The iconic original Batman was built on the one-off chassis of the Lincoln Futura, a concept car produced in 1955; a full eleven years before the release of Batman (1966). Despite the decade-long gap, the car still appeared revolutionary and futuristic, suited to the darkness of the Batman universe, black with red trim and an interesting windshield design. The chassis was built on by George Barris, who only recently allowed the car to be produced in diecast form.
